Swedish Massage is a very relaxing and therapeutic style of bodywork. It combines oils or lotion with an array of strokes such as rolling, kneading, and percussion to help the body improve its circulation. The benefits of this type of bodywork are wide-ranging and include relief from aches and pains, decreased stress levels in the body, enhanced mental clarity, improved appearance, and greater flexibility.
Deep Tissue Massage is a form of bodywork that aims to relieve tension in the deeper layers of tissue in the body. Deep Tissue Massage is a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and past lingering injuries.
Due to the nature of the deep tissue work, open communication during the session is crucial to make sure you don't get too uncomfortable. Keep in mind that soreness can be common after the treatment with the aim of targeting increased tissue repair, and breaking neurological patterns of dysfunction. Plenty of water should be ingested to aid with the flushing and removal of toxins that will have been released from the deep tissue during the session.
Tailor made approach base on individual clients who participate in exercise and athletic programs and seek enhanced performance, improved conditioning, faster recovery, injury prevention and assistance in maintaining peak fitness can benefit from massage therapy. Sports Massage includes the application of multiple techniques which can include:
Hot Stone Therapy is a style of massage where heated stones are placed at specific sites on your body to deepen relaxation and promote circulation in your muscles. Muscles that are heated with these stones release tension and stress much more deeply and quickly than with a traditional massage. The overall experience is very relaxing, nurturing, and rejuvenating.
This is encouraged for those that need a deeper relaxation in their massage. Hot stone strokes deliver heat and deeper pressure directly into the tissues they are used on, the initial stroke encourages a quick response by the parasympathetic nervous system in response to the initial heat stimulus to encourage relaxation beyond the heat stimulus and promote the effects of thermal therapy.
Neuromuscular therapy is a system of massage techniques that were developed in the 1930's by Dr. Stanley Lief in England. It uses a holistic approach towards healing, emphasizing and stimulating the body's natural ability to heal itself. Neuromuscular therapy also enhances the function of joints and muscles, and accelerates the overall healing process by facilitating the release of endorphins.
In my practice of NMT work I utilize:
Similar to Deep Tissue work communication is very important for this work as it is what I use to target chronic pain conditions, for issues that can be bothering you or impeding your movement patterns. Soreness can be common after this work and increased water intake is recommended to help flush out toxins released during this treatment
Cupping in an ancient form of medicine. Traditionally used to treat all sorts of conditions from infertility to asthma and any kind of toxicity issues, that hasn't much changed.
I use cupping as highly effective alternative as well as add on to my massage services. As it allows us to use the exact opposite of direct pressure utilized in massage. CUPPING ALLOWS US TO UTILIZE NEGATIVE PRESSURE.
The benefits are endless for massage therapy:
I use many different types of cups depending on the area being worked and the condition being addressed.
Some areas require static cupping- placing a cup with a specified pressure to an area for up to 3-5 minutes
Other areas require dynamic cupping- moving a cup around and through affected tissues.
Be aware: Cupping marks are normal and can appear as bruises on the skin, this is perfectly normal and can assist in indicating any kind of issues that can be affecting that underlying area. Of course, Increased fluid intake after cupping is encouraged!
